GJR 136 Uniform Classifications
Field Uniform - to be worn in combat
Hat: Bergmutze, Stahlhelm (to be donned just before making contact with the enemy)
Tunic: Enlisted: M40, M43, M44. NCO: add M36
Outerwear: Windbluse, Parka set, smock (as weather dictates). See Rick Choltko regarding appropriate use of camouflage outerwear based on the event. Windjacke, Greatcoat/Overcoat.
Trousers: Berghosen, Keilhosen.
Footwear: Bergstiefel, Marschstiefel, lowboots.
Puttees: Gamaschen or Wickelgamaschen
Equipment: Ammunition pouches, bayonet, Breadbag, Canteen, Gaskmask Canister, Entrenching Tool, Y-straps (optional, if wearing belt hooks in tunic or carrying mountain rucksack)
Barracks Uniform - Standing guard, reporting for duty to Officer or NCO
Hat: Bergmutze (Stahlhelm if standing guard)
Tunic: M36, M40, M43, M44
Trousers: Berghosen, Keilhosen.
Belt and Buckle: buckle, (either fieldgray or black), black belt, bayonet without troddel.
Equipment (when posted to guard): ammunition pouches, breadbag, canteen.
Walking Out Uniform - Evening wear at events when attending restaurant, cafe, dance, or other social gathering.
Hat: Bergmutze or Schirmmutze
Tunic: M36 or M40 with awards, ribbons, etc.
Trousers: Steingrau, straight leg, piped or unpiped (Langhosen) OR Berghosen.
Belt and Buckle: buckle (either fieldgray, black or polished), black belt, bayonet (dress or field) with troddel.
Footwear: Bergstiefel, Marschstiefel. When wearing Bergstiefel, you must wear wickelgamaschen.
Dress Uniform - Parades, Weddings, Funerals, Special Ceremonies, other events as specified by unit command.
Hat: Dress Helmet (for parades, special ceremonies) Schirmmütze
Tunic: M36 or Waffenrock with full medals or ribbon bar, awards
Trousers: Steingrau, straight leg, piped or unpiped.
Footwear: Dress shoe or Marschstiefel (polished)
Belt and buckle: Bright, aluminum dress buckle, black belt (polished), dress bayonet with troddel.
